What message do you hope to convey to your audience about the importance of self-care and stress management?

To be completely honest with you, I am an absolute mess when I’m stressed, and not a hot one. If I ever manage to figure out how to gracefully move through challenges in life I’ll be sure to let you in on my secrets. My audience has seen me go through some of my most challenging chapters, and I’m still figuring out what self-care looks like for me and how to navigate all of life’s chaos.

But one thing i’ve realized about stress in my life is that so much of it comes from within. I put so much pressure on myself to be so many things, and I think so many of us do the same. We place impossibly high expectations on ourselves and our lives.

On one hand, this is beautiful because it means we see so much potential in ourselves. But on the other hand, it is utterly exhausting. It’s exhausting to constantly chase more – to feel like we need to have more, do more, be more. It’s too much pressure to put on ourselves when life is meant to be enjoyed. How much stress do we create for ourselves, and how much peace do we lose to this constant chase for more?

I’m learning how to let go of the weight of all the expectations I put on myself so that I can just enjoy my crazy little life. I don’t want to spend my life stressing about it. What a silly way to live that would be! And I would love more than anything to encourage my audience to do the same. I truly believe the peace we are all endlessly searching for is found when we stop looking for it outside of ourselves.
