How is the growth of the life sciences sector a top priority for the Government of Canada?

Our government recognizes the crucial role that life sciences sector plays in safeguarding the health of Canadians. That’s why we’ve prioritized supporting and funding this crucial sector over the last several years. Canada is a global innovation leader. We have committed over $2.2 billion through our Biomanufacturing and Life Sciences Strategy to strengthen domestic vaccine and therapeutics production, create high-skilled jobs, and support research collaborations. This has allowed us to enhance domestic capacity across diverse technology platforms and helped anchor Canadian leaders so that they are able to grow countrywide – maximizing benefits to Canadians from coast to coast. We have also enhanced talent development through partnerships and global collaborations to leverage Canada’s unique strengths. This approach fortifies Canada’s readiness for future health crises, bolsters our competitive edge, while fueling economic growth and innovation
